The Aerial Yoga Story

Aerial yoga was founded by Christopher Harrison, an American dancer, acrobat, and yogi. Initially, his exercise program was only intended for athletes. Gradually, Harrison developed a new, mass-appropriate yoga style with his aerial yoga towel, in which both conventional and new postures are performed on and in the cloth. Harrison patented this new form of yoga in 2007 as Antigravity® Aerial Yoga and began marketing the "weightless" yoga to yoga studios worldwide. The concept was convincing and became more than just a fast-moving American trend. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before this new form of yoga was discovered and adapted by yogis with a pioneering spirit in Europe. The openness to new ways of practice, the willingness to leave known yoga paths and the natural curiosity of the yogis made it possible for an aerial yoga community to emerge in this country as well.
